DON'T WORRY!
" looking away from all that will distract us and focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the AUTHOR and PERFECTER of faith[ the first incentive for our belief and the One who brings our faith to maturity], who for the joy [of accomplishing the goal] set before Him endured the cross, disregarding the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God[revealing His deity, His authority and the completion of His work]" HEBREWS 12:2[ Amplified Bible Version]
There is enough "hustle and bustle" to get us distracted and weary. There are day-to-day activities that leaves us feeling overwhelmed and tired. There are present challenges we face, that leaves us with "tightened chests". There is the constant uncertainty of what the future holds.
We get carried away by the constant worries, then we fail to see the place of God in our lives. We get so blinded and beclouded by the happenings around us. We forget the extent of our growth[no matter how little we think it is].
Jesus talking, in the Book of Matthew...while teaching on the topic of Money and Possessions[Matthew 6:19-34].....introduces Mammon[money] as a master, that often keep people enslaved. "No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money" MATTHEW 6:24. So, we clearly see that when we begin to take our eyes off the Giver of Blessings, we tend to see Him less and become enslaved to Mammon, entangled with worries and desperation.
This message is to help us, by the power of the Holy Spirit, shift our gaze off the worries and set our eyes only on Jesus.
Recently,I have been feeling quite overwhelmed with so many worries of not meeting up to the academic expectations I set up for myself. I was deep in thoughts, in fact, I was beginning to drown....when the Spirit that is alive in me told me to "look unto Jesus". I shifted my gaze by having control of my thoughts[my mind]. Then, the scripture that was dropped in my heart was "MATTHEW 11:28". Unknowingly to me, it is a scripture I'm familiar with.
[Pause].....DON'T GET OVER-FAMILIAR WITH ANY WORD OF GOD!
" Then Jesus said, " Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest". [You can read the remaining verses].
God is calling you to REST. Quit worrying. Logically, it might not make sense to tell a natural man " don't worry". But a man that walks in the Spirit will know that God has a plan for him/her. He/She has this assurance that God has everything under control.
The Book of Matthew is actually loaded.(:
Let's look at what Jesus says in MATTHEW 6:27..."Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?". If you worry from today till tomorrow, it will not change anything..[the candid truth].
"So what do I do instead of worrying?" First of all, you have to become a GENUINE child of God...by surrendering totally to HIM. Believing that He is and Confessing Him as your personal Lord and Saviour. Trust God.....He has never failed those who trust in HIM. "...He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him".
Dear friends, if He dresses the Lillies...how much more will He care for you? If He feeds the fowls in the air, on land and in the sea....how much more will He provide for you???
Come to Him, He's calling you to rest[to quit worrying and trying to figure it all out by yourself].
"Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the times comes".
So lovelyπ€
