EMMANUEL.
God in the flesh.
Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23.
A little throwback to my pre-teen days....my favorite bible verse was one of the scriptures above. Matthew 1:23(NLT); "Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call Him "Immanuel " which means "God is with us ".
How aware are you? Of God all around you? This is a "self-awareness" question, that no one can answer for you!
Back to the topic before us, Emmanuel simply means "God in the flesh". This is to tell us that, there is God-transcendent{God the Father}, God-in the flesh{ Jesus Christ} and God-in the Spirit{ The Holy Ghost}. This is the trio that makes up ONE, that introduces to us " The Trinity" or as we call it, The Holy Trinity.
Jesus Christ has always been existent. He didn't come into existence when He was birthed by Virgin Mary. Instead, He came from heaven as a mediator, to reconcile us back to God. 1TIMOTHY 2:5 says " For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity-the man Christ Jesus."
However, this same Jesus Christ is the mediator of the new covenant{that no longer requires the blood of animals, as it was done at the time of Moses and our old Testament Fathers}. Christ did not enter into a holy place made with human hands, which was only a copy of the true one in heaven. He entered into heaven itself to appear now before God on our behalf.{Hebrews 9:24}
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered Heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest understands humanity, for as a man, our magnificient King-Priest was tempted in every way just as we are, and conquered sin. { Hebrews 4: 14-15}
Our God sent our Lord Jesus Christ in the form of a man, so He could feel what we currently feel. That is why the Bible records that He is not out of touch with humanity. Since Christ came to dwell with us, we know that God is acquainted with our trials, and sympathizes with our griefs. The only thing special about the first coming of Christ was His supernatural and God-breathed conception{.....a virgin will conceive a child}.
And so, because He is not out of touch with humanity...God leaves us a promise of the descending of His Holy Spirit before the ascension of Christ. I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.{John 14:18}. Luke 24:49A says "And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised..."
In stooping to take upon Himself humanity, Christ revealed a character of Satan. He stepped still lower in the path of humiliation. "Being found in the fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross"-Philippians 2:8. [excerpt from the book-The Desire of Ages]
In the book of Hebrews 2, verse 14-18....it is acknowledged that Jesus had to be made in every respect like us, so that He could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God....since He himself has gone through testings and suffering, He is able to help us when we are being tested.
This promise of the Holy Spirit{God the Spirit, being with us} was made by God in Isaiah 59:21A " And this is my covenant with them", says the Lord. " My Spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you". You are not alone. The Spirit of God lives in you and is currently with you, giving that you have accepted Christ as your Lord and personal saviour.
Friends, in all you go through{through the fire and waters}...God is with you. If you believe, you will come out from that situation victorious!!- for someone.
